Fidarium · The Proximity Method

Governance, up close.

Three numbers from 0 to 3 show how close each AI capability stands to human oversight, to its governing document and to decisions about people.

Human to output

Oversight

  1. 0Every output reviewed in full
  2. 1Reviewed before effect
  3. 2Per-action approval
  4. 3Sampled or exception-based

Capability to governing document

Hierarchy

  1. 0Policy or standard
  2. 1Procedure
  3. 2Template or form
  4. 3No governing document (an orphan)

Output to a decision about a person

Decision

  1. 0It is the decision
  2. 1It recommends it
  3. 2It informs a person who decides
  4. 3No effect on a person

Defined

Declared by a person on the registration card. Binding.

Discovered

Observed from runs, logs, the document chain and the quality ledger.

Approximated

Estimated. Expires at the next review.

  1. R1

A Discovered value that disagrees with the Defined value opens a finding; it never silently overwrites it.

  2. R2

No promotion while any value is Approximated.

  3. R3

Profile 3-3-0 is not permitted: far from oversight, ungoverned, and making decisions about people.

Oversight1 / 3

Reviewed before effect

Hierarchy3 / 3

No governing document (an orphan)

Decision2 / 3

It informs a person who decides

A person checks every output before it takes effect, but no document governs this capability yet, and it informs a decision about a person. Fix the orphan first; autonomy stays low.
